Bug-A-Lugs OSHC Philosophy
Our philosophy is to provide a quality care program for school aged children.
We create a stimulating environment that provides an inclusive child-centred program, which focuses on the learning frameworks, and respecting and catering for each individual child’s uniqueness and needs.
We believe every child has the right to an exceptional standard of care. We are committed to providing a safe, secure and nurturing community of practice which allows children to feel relaxed, accepted and respected. Our goal is to ensure that all children are encouraged to embrace and be proud of their individuality which will in turn, foster positive self-concept.
We offer a range of engaging play and leisure experiences which facilitates the inclusion of every child. Through supporting play based learning we stimulate children to investigate, imagine and explore ideas. Additionally, through practising social and life skills we help to build strong foundations for the children to become valuable contributory members of society.
Bug-A-Lugs promotes an environment that supports the positive mental health and wellbeing of all children. We aim to provide a supportive and encouraging place where children have fun while learning through their natural desire and ability to play.
We strive to develop positive, supportive relationships with families based on open communication and sharing of knowledge and skills. We consider and value each family’s uniqueness, structure, culture and belief’s when planning to encourage respectful and inclusive relationships. We respect the unique relationship between children and their families and incorporate this perspective in all our interactions with the children.
We believe involving the children in real learning experiences within the community contributes to each child’s sense of belonging. We encourage our children to apply healthy and sustainable life habits, through environmental and health programs. We also encourage children to reflect on their impact on the community and on the environment. This will nurture a respectful and diverse community environment in which everyone is committed to work positively together.
As Educators, we are positive, approachable role models. We believe passionate staff help to enrich the environment to support children’s development. Our programs are dedicated to supporting children’s ability to empathise and understand others rights and needs, as well as respecting individual differences. Staff, management and leaders of the centre work ethically and cohesively to create an environment that role models positive relationships.
We are committed to continue the quality improvement processes for better outcomes for children, staff, families and the community.
